Product Development and Enhancement The healthcare information technology industry is characterized by rapid technological change requiring us to continually make investments to update, enhance and improve our products and services. These investments have resulted in total expenditures related to our Product Development Services division of approximately $37.8 million, $32.6 million, and $14.2 million during the years ended December 31, 2017, 2016 and 2015, respectively.
